Synopsis: This brief seminar of approximately 4.5 hours provides an introduction to the two-volume writings of Luke, the physician. The seminar provides an overview and covers important topics, such as the uniqueness of Luke’s gospel, purpose for writing, and key themes in both books. Particular attention will be given to the proper interpretation of Luke-Acts, and implications on Christian life, ministry, and missions in Asia.
Rev. Dr. Clive Chin serves as Academic Dean and Professor of theological and intercultural studies at Singapore Bible College (SOTE). He is an ordained minister, having served as a pastor for over seventeen years in Chinese churches in the USA with the Christian and Missionary Alliance and Evangelical Free Church of America denominations. In the last twelve years, he served as a lecturer in several teaching positions in the USA and Asia. With PhD degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary (theological studies) and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (intercultural studies), his research focuses on the intersection of theological and missions studies, with particular interests in theological method and hermeneutics, Calvin studies, contextualization, and Christian conversion. He and his wife, Rhonda, have been married for 26 years with two children, Elisabeth (19) and Stephen (15).
It was a well-attended seminar. Dr Clive Chin gave an excellent survey of the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts, highlighting the main themes.
